REPRESENTATIVE ASHBY HONORED BY CHRISTIAN LIFE COMMISSION
AUSTIN – This week, at a reception hosted by the Christian Life Commission, State Representative Trent Ashby (R-Lufkin) was honored with the Micah 6:8 Justice Award for his dedicated public service and advocacy on behalf of Texas school children. The Christian Life Commission is the public policy arm of the Baptist General Convention of Texas and consists of over 5,400 member churches across the state.
“I am deeply humbled to be honored by some of my brothers and sisters in Christ with this award,” said Ashby, who currently chairs the Appropriations subcommittee responsible for funding public and higher education in Texas. “I take great pride in working with my colleagues in the Legislature, as well as organizations such as the Christian Life Commission, to ensure every child in our state has access to a quality education, regardless of their zip code.”
Representative Ashby is the State Representative for House District 57, which encompasses all of Angelina, Houston, Leon, Madison, San Augustine, and Trinity Counties. He is currently in his third term as a member of the Texas House of Representatives and serves on the House Appropriations, Natural Resources, and Calendars Committees.
